Root Chakra || Balance, Strengthen and Grow Your Roots

Hey beautiful, how are your roots?

The Root Chakra ( named Muladhara Sanskrit ), located at the base of the spine, is the first of the main seven chakras. Associated with the color red, the Root Chakra commands attention. If you were to imagine the body as an energetic house, the Root Chakra is the "foundation" of which it sits on.

Because this energy center governs stability, identity, security, and our basic needs, it plays a major role in our physical, mental, spiritual, and sexual well-being. Without balancing The Root Chakra, upper chakras will not be healed, balanced, and/or flow.

Let's strengthen our foundation.

"A pleasure-filled life begins with a strong foundation to stand on."

The Root Chakra has an ability to store generational patterns, trauma, and experiences that threaten (ed) our survival. Working to clear out stagnant energies around your roots is a necessary piece of sensual feminine flowering.

"From every thought, intention, or act that we perform or have performed, a seed is sown in the Root Chakra and will sooner or later rise into the light. In each lifetime, we have planted innumerable seeds." ~ Spacious Therapy

When the Root Chakra is balanced, your relationship with self, others, and the world around you oftentimes feel:

- safe

- passionate

- fearless

- peaceful

- secure

So, how do you know when your root chakra is out of alignment?

Generally, when your Root Chakra is out of healthy alignment and/or closed, you may :

- feel anxious, depressed, spacey and/or ungrounded most of the time

- find it difficult or even scary to express authentically

- have a general mistrust of yourself and others

- obsess about money ( ex: "Is there enough to go around?" )

- oftentimes feel extremely self-conscious and critical

- feel tired and have a lack of zest for life

Here are a few ways that you can begin re-planting, re-storing, and re-adjusting your "roots".

1. Crystal Healing.

I know, I know...you've heard me say it before but, it works.

Crystals are one of the most important tools for chakra healing. Each crystal has its own vibrational frequency, just as each chakra does.

Some of my favorite "Root-Growing" stones are Red Jasper, Black Obsidian, Carnelian, Tourmaline, and Blood Stone.

There are so many ways to explore crystal healing. You can begin a new Yoni Egg practice, carry crystals in your bra or even hold crystals in the palm of your hand while meditating on the Root Chakra.

2. See, Eat and Wear Red.

See - Start with the simple meditation of envisioning a bright red light at the base of your spine. Picture this red light extending down your legs and feet, grounding you to the earth.

Eat - Eating red is another way to balance and clear energy around the Root Chakra. Try intentionally eating red apples, beets, tomatoes, pomegranates, strawberries, and raspberries. You may also think of root vegetables. Root vegetables grow beneath the ground, absorbing a high amount of vitamins and nutrients from the earth.

3. Sound Healing

Raise your vibration and ground yourself through sound. Try listening to "feel-good" music, chanting, and/or the grounding sounds of singing bowls.

If you don't have a singing bowl of your own, no worries. There are so many resources out there where you can plug in your earphones and experience the healing sounds of singing bowls.

4. Affirmations / Mantras

Use mantras or affirmations to strengthen your "roots and reprogram your unconscious thinking patterns.

Affirmation/mantra examples include, “I am grounded,” “I am open to all possibilities, “I am rooted in love,” “I am safe, “I surrender.”

5. Intentional Movement

Move your body with the intention of growing your "roots". Try kicking off your socks and shoes and really feeling the floor beneath you.
